Artisan Collaborations

We work with several artisan groups to develop products that transcend a single production method, material or craft tradition.

In doing so, our practice fosters local business networks and seeks greater creative interaction between various producer groups, and craft traditions in old countries that are struggling or run the risk of disappearing soon to maintain relevance in the changing world with global economies.

Currently, we collaborate with a number of artisans in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. For example, we work with stone carvers and marble inlay workers of Agra, to produce tabletop accessories, furnishings and furniture.
We also collaborate with traditional Tanjore painters to expand the vocabulary of their heritage craftform by developing three-dimensional glass objects with embossed gold foil details.

We interact with textile weavers to create housekeeping-free glass partitions using intricate hand-woven fabrics. Our list and its possibilities goes on.....Based on appropriate-ness to the project at hand, we collaborate with seed bead weavers, silversmiths, bronze sculptors and woodcarvers.
