Glass architecture for Desert Mice.
Our client was entrusted with creating a habitat for a specific type of desert mice
in a tank sized 2m L x 1 W D x 0.9m H. Since the mice will eat through most other
materials, we designed the components of their tank in glass.
We constructed glass mazes by interlocking fused glass sheets, in units that
made it easy to take out, clean, assemble and put back into the tank.
We blew glass in the form of swirly trees affixed to clear bases for easy removal
The client envisioned a colorful and optically-empowered habitat. To that end, we
also constructed slippery slides, lens barriers that would distort the mice’s image to
viewers and a spiral staircase for the mice to play with (as seen here).
